CPO® Certification

Owning a pool is great fun ... But cleaning it and maintaing equipment isn't!  That's where Portofino Pools comes in ... Portofino Pools are nationally certified for maintenance, repair restoration and remodeling. We have a great reputation among North Florida's most prominent homes, clubs, communities and schools.

Our CPO® certified maintenance technicians are equipped with self-contained service carts containing portable vacuum systems powered by marine batteries.

We vacuum dirt, pine needles, and leaves into a fine mesh bag mounted on the unit versus a suction hose drawing the debris into the pool filter.  This debris is than removed from the pool area. Cleaning power is many times greater than conventional cleaning systems, resulting in a cleaner pool and filter.

We also repair: pumps, filters, automatic cleaners, heaters, motors, lights, parts and accessories for your pool.

Commercial and Residential Maintenance & Repair

If water is not flowing out one or more of the jets in the vacuum unit, it may be because the jets inside the unit are small and grains of sand can clog them. To catch these particles that get through the filter, install a fine-mesh strainer at the point where the plumbing connects to the feeder hose. Sometimes dirt or sand can, however, be picked up by the unit and clog any of the internal jets.

Troubleshooting

Telepoles

Telescoping pole or telepole is heart of the cleaning system. Telepoles are made of aluminum or fiberglass. There are several sizes, from a 4-foot pole that telescopes to 8 feet, all the way up to a 12-foot pole that telescope to 24 feet (by pulling the inner pole out of the outer one). The one you will use most on pools is 8 feet long, telescoping to 16 feet.

Tools of the Trade

Tiles

Always clean the tiles first. Dirt falls from the tiles as they are being cleaned and settles to the bottom of the pool. If you need to remove stubborn stains with a pumice stone, the pumice itself breaks down as you scrub, depositing debris on the bottom.

Remodeling

Water Balance: the dynamic interaction between certain chemical components in water and certain physical characteristics of water, consisting of pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, total dissolved solids and temperature.

pH: pH is the abbreviation for potens hydrogen, Latin for hydrogen potential - the measure of the acidic or alkaline (basic) nature of water; the measurement scale is logarithmic, ranging from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral

testing method: color-matching using phenol red (a pH indicator designed to read from 6.8 to 8.4)

testing frequency: as local and/or state regulations  indicate and on amount of  bather load. Residential =  daily to weekly, Commercial = every 2-3 hours, daily or 3-5 times per week
